THE PROBLEM OF AN INFINITELY LONG CIRCULAR CYLINDER IN AN OBLIQUE SEA,

Abstract

A fixed infinitely long circular cylinder half submerged in, and with its axis in the free surface of an ideal fluid is considered. This cylinder is acted upon by a regular wave train whose direction of motion makes an oblique angle with the axis of the cylinder. The object of the paper is to find the vertical force per unit length on the cylinder due to these waves. (Author)
