THE HISTORICAL DEVELOPMENT OF A SOLID STATE MASER AMPLIFIER.

Abstract

The report contains an historical sketch of events leading to the development of a solid state amplifier which operates on the principle of stimulated emission of radiation. The mode of operation of the device developed at Lincoln Laboratory is described and its characteristics both as an amplifier and as an oscillator are presented. (Author)
