THEORY AND PRACTICE OF THE PRODUCTION OF FIBER MATERIALS,

Abstract

The authors explain the main stages in the development of fiber metallurgy abroad, describe a method of producing fiber materials, and discuss the principles of developing composite materials based on metal fibers with specific physical properties. Data on materials based on filamentary crystals (whiskers) are presented and a brief review of Soviet experimental work in the field of fiber metallurgy is given. The applications of fiber materials are discussed. (Author)
