High-Speed Gas-Lubricated Journal Bearings,

Abstract

The survey briefly describes the operating principles and basic types of modern high-speed bearings (antifriction, magnetic, electrostatic, and gas-lubricated). Design fundamentals are set forth for gas-static and gas-dynamic bearings, and the designs of the machines in which gas-lubricated bearings are used and the materials used to make gas-lubricated bearings are discussed.
