Engine Life,

Abstract

Information on the nature of phenomena which take place in the surface layers of the metal of engine components during friction is briefly generalized in the book, the fact of physical and mechanical properties of the surface of metal and the geometrical parameters of surface quality on the durability of the components is considered, basic requirements set forth for quality of surface friction of components and measures which increase the reliability and life of engine couplings are presented, methods of estimating the period of trouble-free operation of components and line of assemblies are indicated.
