Shock Wave Structure in BaTiO3 Ceramic.

Abstract

The elastic-plastic shock wave profile in BaTiO3 4 wt percent PbTiO3 has been determined for an 80-kbar shock using quartz gauges. The results indicate that the elastic wave rises abruptly compared with the plastic wave. The rise time of the 80-khor plastic wave is at least 500 nsec. The thickness of the front is about 2mm. The rise time of the elastic pulse is 20 nsec or less. The thickness is 0.12 mm or less. (Author)
