Recent Developments in Macroscopic and Microscopic Fracture Mechanics.

Abstract

The report presents a brief state-of-the-art review of the science and application of Fracture Mechanics Technology as of Spring 1970. Part 1 contains a brief introduction to fracture mechanics and fracture toughness. Part 2 illustrates how various fracture toughness data correlate with each other. In Part 3 relations between macroscopic and microscopic aspects of fracture in low alloy steels are presented. In Part 4, the fracture behavior of high strength materials is treated, while Part 5 deals with some aspects of safe-life prediction in alloys. (Author)
