Phsyical and Mechanical Properties of Fiber-Glass Reinforced Plastics (A Collection of Articles),

Abstract

A combination of high mechanical strength with good electric insulating and thermophysical properties and chemical stability favors the broad application of FRP as structural materials in many branches of the People's economy. For the successful application of FRP in various branches of technology it is necessary to know their properties and behavior under different conditions. The present reference book on the physicomechanical properties of domestic FRP is a manual, compiled from the available source material, state standards, and also the technical conditions for the most important FRP. In the first section a description of the mechanical, physical and electrical methods of testing FRP is given, the bases of which are the state standards. In cases, when the tests have not been standardized in the Soviet Union, methods are used which have been described in the literature. The second section contains data about domestic FRP (silicon organic, polyester, phenolic, epoxy and others), and also the trade names of foreign fiberglass reinforced plastics and their basic properties. The data on the technology, processing and application of polymeric materials were collected from periodical publications. (Author-PL)
