Study of the Thermal Expansion of Refractory Oxides at High Temperatures,

Abstract

The coefficient of thermal expansion from 1997 to 2297 degrees centigrade was determined experimentally for aluminum and magnesium oxides and Al2O3 solid solution in MgAl2O4. The nature and characteristics of thermal expansion were established for a series of ZrO2 samples stabilized by varied amounts of MgO, CaO, or Y2O3 and with monoclinic ZrO2 additions in varied amounts.
