Preparation and Reactions of a Dicarba-nido-decaborane(12).

Abstract

Reaction of B7C2H11(-2) with B2H6 affords NaBH4, H2, 1,6B8C2H10 and a new nido-carborane B8C2H12. Reactions of B8C2H12 include chlorination by HCl, amine addition and thermal conversion to 1,6-B8C2H10 and H2 in quantitative yield. Topological and structural data are discussed on the basis of 11B nmr spectra (80 MHz). (Author)
