Air Currents Arising During Movement of Avalanche Snow,

Abstract

Snow avalanches bring loss and destruction to objects located in their path not only as a result of the direct action of the snow masses on these objects, but in a considerable degree also as a result of the impact of a powerful flow of compressed air moving ahead of the avalanche the so-called 'air wave' or 'avalanche blizzard' which sweeps away everything in its path. The article discusses this problem.
