Some Determinants of Favor Acceptance.

Abstract

The document is concerned with the area of help-giving and altruistic behavior which give some understanding of the conditions under which people will help or benefit others. The purpose of the research was to begin an investigation into some of the determinants of favor acceptance. Male college students were offered small favors by another student under a variety of experimental conditions. Whether or not they accepted the favor was studied as well as their reactions to the favor-doer. The results are discussed in terms of reciprocity and psychological reactance theory.
