Abstract

The document considers that in order to incorporate the concept of electronic mail handling into the present collection and distribution subsystems, a substitution of communications technology for transportation must be made. The economic and technical concepts of the use of communications in the collection and distribution subsystems of an electronic mail handling (EMH) system are discussed, including the distribution system, collection methods, transmission facilities, and the delivery and disposition of hard copy.
