Pulse-Phased Radio Navigation System Loran-C,

Abstract

General conclusion of various sources from the non-Soviet literature and some practical data obtained as a result of observation of the operation of a 'LORAN-C' during the time period 1963-1965 are presented. In operation the pulse-phased system, by comparison with other systems, utilizes a more complicated method of transmission of long radio waves and more complicated shipboard equipment is necessary for obtaining a similar reading of the navigational data. This definitely makes it difficult to study the operation of the pulse-phased system. Therefore, the present work may help master the basic operating principles of the pulse-phased system and correctly evaluate the technical and navigational possibilities of the LORAN-C radio navigation system.
