Neurotropic Effects in Relation to Chemical Structure.

Abstract

The synthesis and testing of selected, rigid compounds having the same type of structural components with the same overall size and distribution as found in morphine was atttempted in an effort to prove or disprove this theory. Preliminary studies have involved the synthesis of certain nitrogen analogs of bicyclo(3-2-2)nonanes in which a bridgehead positions will contain the hetero atom. To date four N,N'-ditosyl,N,N'-polymethylene-o-phenylenediamines Have been prepared and characterized. Several simple bis-piperidino alkanes have been prepared to investigate adequate experimental methods for the preparation of bis-nortropine alkanes and related compounds.
