Effect of Heparinized Saline Infusion and Hypotension on Calcium Homeostasis in the Dog.

Abstract

Serial blood samples were drawn from dogs prior to, during, and after a period of hypotension induced by blood removal and replacement. Samples were assayed for total plasma calcium. A marked hypercalcemia was indu ced in dogs by a 2.5 or 3.0 hour period of hypotension (30 mm Hg BP). (Author)
