Permeable Matter and the Vector H.

Abstract

The purpose of the report is to provide a new clarity of insight into concepts that are involved in the design and understanding of devices which have importance in a wide variety of Air Force applications. The formulas derived herein provide new tools for clarifying the mode of operation and optimizing the performance of devices that involve magnetic components. A previous discussion of dielectric matter is extended to the problem of magnetic dipolar matter. The calculation of the external field of a sample of such matter by Amperian currents is reviewed, and the meaning of the average internal field that they can be shown to correctly predict is discussed.
