Data Recording Technique Feasibility Study.

Abstract

The report presents the findings of the first part of a two-part study program for the conceptual development and detailed design of a Human Readable Machine Readable (HRMR) Information Processor Subsystem, which s an advanced mass memory subsystem of a larger information processing system. Microfiche are to be used to the storage medium for information in both human readable and machine readable forms. The purpose of this part of the study, was to evaluate alternative approaches for the laser recording and subsequent readout of 2.5 million bits of digital data (60 pages, 64 lines per page, 80 characters per line, 8 bits per character) within a 1/4 in. x 4 in. area of each microfiche at computer input/output rates.
