Synthesis of Polyquinoxalines Containing Sulfonyl Groups in the Polymer Chain,

Abstract

A series of seven new polyquinoxalines containing sulfonyl groups in the chain was synthesized. Five of these were phenylated polyquinoxalines. These are all high temperature stable materials. Their polymer decomposition temperatures do differ, however, and range from 430 to 520C depending on differences in chemical structure. Phenylated polyquinoxalines show markedly higher solubilities than their nonphenylated analogs; they also have far better thermal-oxidative stability. (Author)
