An Algorithmic Solution to the Optimal Pursuit Problem for a Class of Distributed Parameter Systems,

Abstract

The class of systems being considered here includes, among others, the classical self-adjoint 'Sturm-Liouville' problems of partial differential equations. The control term is an additive in homogeneous term in the system equations and the control problem is that of minimizing the weighted sum of the 'squares' of the system error and control. The principle result of this paper is an algorithm, that is, a computational procedure for calculating the optimal control. This result is illustrated by an example. (Author)
