Stabilization of Polyorganosiloxanes by Means of Ferrocene Derivatives (Stabilizatsiya Poliorganosiloksanov Proizvodnymi Ferrotsena),

Abstract

The longevity and also maximum application temperatures of rubbers, plastics, varnishes and lubricants based on polyorganosiloxanes depend upon the stability of these materials relative to the oxygen of the air, especially at higher temperatures. Therefore as a rule the above products contain stabilizers. Three ferrocene derivatives are discussed which are highly effective in polyorganosiloxanes. Thermooxidation destruction stability of the polymethylsiloxane PMS-100 at 250 degrees C increases 800 times and at 300 degrees C-400 times. The ferrocene derivatives investigated are also effective when added to PFMS-4--gelatinization time at 300 degrees C increases from 165 to 1,070-1100 hours. Subject ferrocene derivatives are recommended as oxidation inhibitors for polyorganosiloxanes. (Author)
