Techniques for Determination of Terrain Analogs,

Abstract

The objective of a terrain analog technique is to enable the comparison of geographic areas on the basis of those aspects of the terrain which are most significant for military operations. The following basic techniques are described in this report: Prevalence of critical or restrictive values of selected terrain factors; Suitability for military activities; Landform classification; and Total range of values of selected terrain factors.
