Evoked Potentials from the Laser-Irradiated Retina.

Abstract

The document is concerned with the effect of retinal photocoagulation on the light evoked electrical responses of the visual system. Research was conducted to examine the electroretinogram (ERG) AND THE LATERAL GENICULATE NUCLEUS (LGN) and striate cortex potentials of the rabbit before and after irradiation of the retina with a high-energy ruby laser. Protocol consisted of recording the three potentials while stimulating the eye with an argon laser operated at several flash intensities, exposing the retina to a calculated ruby laser radiation dosage, and recording again the responses to photic stimulation.
