Logic Design for a Small Computer.

Abstract

The report is divided into three main sections. In the first section the specifications for the computer are developed. These include the word length, instruction format, block diagram, and state diagram synthesis. The machine is composed completely of solid state components including the main memory, and is capable of executing 13 instructions including a single instruction for multiplication. All arithmetic computations are performed serially. The second section is concerned with the detailed logic design of the system. A description of the type of components used is given as well as an analysis of the design. In the last section the size, power, and cost of the computer are analyzed. A total of only 122 logic components are required due to the use of medium and large scale integration components. Total power dissipation for the entire device is 21.4 watts. (Author)
