Assignment of a Reversible Lane. An Example of Optimal Control.

Abstract

The document discusses the problem of optimum assignment of a reversible lane in an oversaturated two-way traffic link from a control theoretic viewpoint. State space trajectories are used to solve the optimization problem. It is hoped that the simple problem considered here will stimulate further applications of control theory to traffic system analysis. (Author)
