The Determination of the Surface Area of Powders by Low Temperature Nitrogen Adsorption Using a Continuous Flow Method,

Abstract

An outline is given of the principles involved in the calculation of surface area from low temperature nitrogen adsorption measurements. Apparatus for the determination of the volume of nitrogen gas adsorbed by a sample of powder from a mixed stream of nitrogen and helium is described, and the operating procedure given. Results obtained with several powders are compared with those determined by permeability methods. (Author)
