Vibration of an Ell-Shaped Uniform Filament with Clamped Ends.

Abstract

An analysis is made of in-plane and out-of-plane vibrations of a uniform filament which is bent at right angles and the ends of which are fixed. Shear deflection and rotatory inertia are neglected. Curve sheets are presented from which one may find the first several frequencies of vibration in terms of the geometrical and physical variables. An important application is to the vibrations of piping systems. (Author)
