Doppler Line Super-Radiant Emission From a Sphere,

Abstract

A simple theory is given for the super-radiant emission from a uniform spherical gaseous medium. The emission stems from a Doppler broadened transition with positive gain. Application of the theory to a recent fluorescence experiment shows that super-radiant emission does not account for the decay of the population in the upper level. (Author)
