An Analysis of How Motion Commands Are Processed in the APT System,

Abstract

The report contains a description of how motion commands are processed in the APT System. The present work is part of an analysis of machine tool languages, which is being carried out in order to obtain a clear understanding of the theoretical and practical problems which underly their definition and usage. Making reference to the geometrical execution statements as they appear in the part program, various processor of the APT System have been examined in order to analyse the preliminary elaborations performed on the source statements, up to the point at which the ARELEM section is called for the final computation of the three dimensional tool path.
