Abstract

Three cases of bronchioloalveolar-cell carcinoma are presented. The lesions are vague, ill-defined, and coalescent and show air-bronchogram effects (even within the solitary-nodule type). Selected gross and histological specimens are used to explain the mechanisms underlying the radiographic signs. The fibroplastic reaction in the presence of this tumor results in the visualization of well-defined streaks of density in and around these tumors in long-standing cases.
