Radio Environment Monitoring for the Category 3 Instrument Landing System.

Abstract

The need for integrity monitoring of the Category 3 instrument landing system when used for automatic landing is discussed. A radio environment monitoring system is proposed, based on early experimental work carried out at R.A.E., Farnborough and London Airport, Heathrow. The practical results obtained support the theoretical work in such a way as to indicate that the method of monitoring is a viable proposition. (Author)
