Dispersion Study of Domain Wall Mobility and Mechanical Damping in Pb(Ti,Zr) 03 Transducer Ceramics.
Abstract
Resonant methods were used to measure the properties of Pb(Zr, Ti)O3 ceramics, emphasizing mechanical Q, over the temperature rang -180 degrees C to +165 degrees C, with specimens whose dimensions were chosen to give a frequency range of about 60 kHz to about 850 kHz. The relationships between loss 1/(Q sub M) maxima and minima and possible loss mechanisms are discussed. This temperature dropoff in Q sub M is attributed to increasing conductivity, while increased losses at low temperatures are tentatively ascribed to a phase transition. Some work is also described on quasistatic strain vs. stress measurements. (Author)
