Pb(1-x)Sn(x)Se Epitaxial Films,

Abstract

Single-crystal films of lead-tin-selenide have been prepared by vacuum-evaporation techniques, and subsequently heat treated under various conditions. The purpose of the study was to develop the procedures for growing this compound in the form of single crystal films, and secondly, to learn to control the carrier concentration of these films. The report includes: synthesis of the compound, growth of the film, determination of film thickness, determination of lead-to-tin ratio, electrical properties, vacuum annealing, isothermal annealing, and two-zone annealing.
