Studies on the Stress Relaxation of Polystyrenes in the Rubbery-Flow Region. II.

Abstract

An empirical equation for stress relaxation in the rubbery-flow region was applied to broad- and narrow-distribution polystyrenes. It is shown that over the range of polydispersity and molecular weights tested, the shear viscosity eta state near compliance J(e), and the rubbery-flow stress relaxation may be predicted if M(n) and M(w) are known.
