Effects of Drugs on Somatic Activity and Human Responses.
Abstract
The general purpose of the research was to search for general principles of site and mode of action of drugs. In the long run, this sort of research should help clarify the relation between bodily state and behavior. The pharmacological approach may be regarded as a direct way of manipulating bodily state. The research is viewed as a continuing, two-pronged attack on (a) Somatic responses (autonomic and skeletal) and (b) the use of drugs as tools in varying biochemical events within the body which could be the substrates of these responses.
