Ejecta Study of 100-Ton Suffield Explosive Cratering Shot,

Abstract

Data on the areal distribution of debris ejected from craters formed by two surface high explosive detonations are presented. Two charges of 5 and 100 tons, built with TNT blocks to approximate hemispheres, were detonated on the surface of a clayey silt medium. Straight-line fits to the data describe the average areal density of the debris surrounding the craters from the crater lip crest outward. (Author)
