Chemical, Structural and Analytical Research.

Abstract

The report summarizes the research programs and service functions covering determination of molecular structures, characterization of materials and development and application of analytical techniques of various kinds. The contract also involves various services supplied the Air Force in support of their in-house programs. The major areas of research were in emission spectrometry, mass spectrometry and vibrational spectroscopy. In emission spectrometry the major effort was directed toward studies of electromagnetic arc stabilization. The vibrational spectroscopic studies were concentrated on spectral behavior of halogenated organic acids and possible correlations with structure. In the area of mass spectrometry efforts were expended on modification of the mass spectrometer for appearance potential measurements, the development of a photo plate method for mass measurement and mass spectra-structure investigations of polyfluoroaromatic compounds and polychlorinated ferrocenes.
