Methods for Obtaining Laser Action at Wavelengths Shorter than 3000A.

Abstract

The general objective of this research program is to investigate a method for achieving laser action at wavelengths less than 3000A. The theory and calculations presented in this report constitute the basis for the design and construction of a new type of laser device, an electron-pumped Cerenkov laser. Preliminary theoretical and experimental work indicate that such a device is feasible. (Author)
