Long-Distance Communication Cable Type TZPA,

Abstract

The technical characteristics of the TZPA long-distance low-frequency communication cables featuring copper conductors, foam polyethylene insulation, and aluminum sheathing are cited. Produced with capacities of 4, 7, 14, and 19 quads, three TZPA sub-classes are noted: the TZPAP for conduit laying, the TZPAPBP (and TZPAPKP) for direct laying in the ground, and the TZPAPBPzh with extra-thick aluminum sheathing for installation along a/c-electrified railroads. Testing techniques used to certify the air-tightness of the polyethylene jacket protecting th aluminum (or, in some cases, armor) sheathing are briefly described. Factory lengths measure 425 plus or minus 5 meters or a multiple thereof. (Author)
