Nine Truck Fuel and Lubricant Fleet Test Program.

Abstract

Nine-truck fleet test of general purpose vehicles was conducted with five engine oils, five gear lubricants, two greases and two fuels in order to evaluate the particular products under use condition and to provide field data for correlation with current laboratory test techniques. Test on the M151 trucks was terminated at 4000 miles due to several rear differential failures; therefore the crankcase oils used in these vehicles could not be evaluated. In general, the fuels and lubricants performed satisfactorily in the 5-ton trucks; however, a compatibility problem existed between the M151 differential and the gear lubricants tested. (Author)
