PCM Processing of Bandpass Signals.

Abstract

The process of sampling a bandpass analog signal, as is done in a PCM telemeter, and reproducing the analog signal by filtering a sequence of pulses introduces several types of errors in the output signal. Two of these types of errors, aliasing errors and flat topped sampling pulse errors, are uniquely dependent on the bandpass nature of the input signal. The characteristics of these errors are analyzed in terms of their spectrums. In particular, the dependence of the total power contributed by each type of error on the specific frequency band occupied by the signal investigated. (Author)
