Local Bases and Computation of g-Splines,

Abstract

The g-splines were introduced to solve certain Hermite-Birkhoff interpolation problems. In this paper local support bases are given for the class of g-splines and corresponding algorithms are developed for computing them. This provides new methods for accurate and efficient solution of Hermite-Birkhoff interpolation problems. Some applications in quadrature and numerical solution of boundary value problems are discussed. (Author)
