Digital Address Thin Display Tube.

Abstract

The report describes the progress to develop a 32x52 resolution-element digital address thin display tube for a man-pack radar. The parametric tradeoff and design studies initiated in the first period were continued, construction of a low-power area-cathode was initiated, testing of various dynode hole-geometries was completed, and the design of low-power electronics was initiated. The proposed dynode decoding structure is described in detail, and calculations of expected dynode contrast-ratio dynode power-dissipation, and brightness are presented. The test results of six dynode-geometries are presented, along with selection of the most desirable geometry. Initial results of the electronics design study are presented, and estimates of total power-dissipation are made. (Author)
