Interpreter Techniques for the GE-600.

Abstract

The Interpreter is the first phase of the PILER System of automatic translation of computer programs from one machine language to another. This report describes the implementation of an Interpreter for the GE-600 computer. Because the operating system is an integral part of the hardware-operating program interface in this computer, certain information regarding the functions of the subject program can be extracted from the operating system. Elementary analysis is performed by the Interpreter to locate this information. The Interpreter decodes instructions, identified I/O parameter lists, I/O buffers, subroutine parameters and calling sequences, and other data. All information is prepared in Micro-form format for input to the PILER Analyzer. (Author)
