Synthesis and Evaluation of New Phenylated Polyquinoxalines, II,

Abstract

The synthesis and properties of two new phenylated polyquinoxalines are discussed. Additional properties data from two related earlier synthesized polymers were obtained and compared with those of the new polymers. It was found that polymers from 1,4-bis(phenylglyoxaloyl)benzene and 1,3-bis(phenylglyoxaloyl)benzene with 3,3'-diaminobenzidine are almost identical in their thermal properties. Their decomposition temperature (vacuum) is 540C. Weight loss at 400C in air is only six per cent. They are both stable in hot concentrated alkali and show excellent solubility in a number of common solvents. (Author)
