Method for Determining the Melting Temperature of the Ash of Lubricating Oil Additives,

Abstract

A physical instrument for determination of the melting temperature of the ash portion of lubricating oil additives was developed, assembled, and tested. Besides the determination of the melting temperature of ash in lubricating oil additives, this instrument can be used to determine the melting temperature of any inorganic and nonmetallic substances. The recording of the research results in the potentiometer in the form of diagrams makes it possible to study the behavior of additive ash in a broad temperature interval. Research works on the indicated instrument have shown that it is possible to use it to study the process of oxidation of oil with respect to thermal effect. (Author)
