Abstract

The article briefly traces the role of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute im. Prof. N. E. Zhukovskiy (TsAGI) in the development of Soviet military and civilian aviation. It discusses some of the technical problems encountered in the development of subsonic, transonic, supersonic, and hypersonic flights and steps undertaken to solve them. Some of the TsAGI wind tunnels and their role in aircraft development are described. (Author)
