The Magnetic Impurity Problem in Metals.

Abstract

A detailed study of the Kondo state as a function of magnetic field and temperature in CuFe and related alloy systems is reported. The temperature and magnetic field dependence of the copper isotope 63 linewidth and longitudinal relaxation time as a function of the FE concentration are measured. A study of exchange enhancement and spin fluctuations in dilute alloys using nuclear magnetic resonance techniques is reported. The alloy system of LaSn3(1-x)In(3x) shows possible strong exchange enhancement effects. The effects of exchange enhancement on the spin fluctuations are studied by measuring the nuclear longitudinal relaxation times of lanthanum. (Author)
