Model Calculations of Travelling Ionospheric Disturbances in the Ionosphere Applied to Quasi-periodical Variations of the Ionospheric Electron Content.

Abstract

Calculations of variations of the electron density during the passage of gravity waves are presented. The obtained electron density variations are used for calculations of the electron content, as observed by means of an orbiting satellite. It is shown that by comparison of model calculations made for given wave parameters and given ionospheric conditions with the observed electron content variations, actual wave parameters of the gravity wave producing these variations may be estimated.
