Nonlinear Acoustics,

Abstract

Ten theoretical and experimental papers are presented on research problems in nonlinear acoustics. Topics include: the history of nonlinear acoustics, finite-amplitude effects in underwater acoustics, self-demodulation of acoustic waves, multidimensional finite-amplitude waves in gases, finite-amplitude processes in ducts, transient effects associated with large-amplitude acoustic pulses, virtual sources in the presence of real sources, transient effects in parametric arrays, parametric oscillations in resonant systems, and the scattering of sound by sound. Publication is sponsored by the U.S. Navy Office of Naval Research. (Author)
